Restoration of the Wallraf Library
We need around 1.7 million euros to save the Ferdinand Franz Wallraf Library.
Thanks to the financial support of our sponsors from the federal and state governments, i.e. the Coordination Office for the Preservation of Written Cultural Heritage (KEK) and the Ministry of Culture and Science of North Rhine-Westphalia, as well as the assistance of the City of Cologne, which shares equally in the financing with us, we have succeeded in reaching the halfway point since 2018.
Our book sponsors - both foundations and citizens* - have also already donated more than €60,000.
We are incredibly grateful to all of them, because alone we cannot save Wallraf's library!

Interview with Dr. Christiane Hoffrath
In 2018 we started with the restoration and renovation of the library Ferdinand Franz Wallraf. Wallraf was the last rector of the old University of Cologne and a famous citizen of the city of Cologne. We owe it to our patrons that we can preserve his important scholarly library from the late period of the Enlightenment. They made it possible for us to save the works from the 15th-19th century.
We would also like to take this opportunity to thank our book sponsors who have supported the restoration of "Wallrafs Büchern" with their donations.
