Our partners make us strong!
We provide more than 63,000 students and interested citizens with scientific literature. With the aid of our partners, as a cultural center in Cologne, we also offer a diverse program of events.
We restore our historical collections and support scientists and scholars in their research and publication processes through grants and third-party funding.
Cultural partners
Under the motto "Partnership for more culture", WDR 3 works closely with over 100 cultural institutions in North Rhine-Westphalia. We too were able to win WDR 3 as our cultural partner, who has been supporting us since 2018. Also since 2018, we can name the Kölner Illustrierte as our partner. Both media institutions support and accompany us in our diverse cultural program, be it the various exhibitions, lectures in our house or the popular panel discussions where current topics are hotly discussed.
More
Wir danken allen Buchpatinnen und Buchpaten für ihre Unterstützung im Projekt "Wallrafs Bücher"!
MoreCooperation partner of the European Documentation Center
Our European Documentation Center is the interface between the EU Commission, the academic world and all interested citizens. We provide literature from and about the European Union. We bring together students who aspire to a career in the EU with experts on Europe. We offer numerous events on current European issues, which are attended by an average of 800 participants per year, both inside and outside the EDC.
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft
DFG funding makes it possible to establish services that are not only of importance to the University of Cologne but also to science at a national level:
Thanks to the support in retrospective digitisation, our digital collections have been expanded. As a result, we are expanding the open access offer in the area of our historical old collections.
With the help of the DFG, two Specialised Information Services (SID) have been created in currently two disciplines: SocioHub, SID Sociology and SID Philosophy (under construction).
We are participating in the establishment of the National Research Data Infrastructure for Personal Health Data NFDI4Health, a project that has gained importance especially in the Corona era, so that a Task Force Covid 19 has emerged from this project.
The DFG also funds the development of open access journals, for which the technical infrastructure is provided in the UCL: Media in German language teaching and criminology - the online journal (both journals: German).
Within the context of a DFG project, we are digitising the Kölnische Zeitung from 1803-1945 together with the ULB Bonn. The full-text indexed digitised copies will be available in 2021 on the newspaper portal zeit.punktNRW.
Sponsors at federal, state and municipal level
Since 2018, the library Ferdinand Franz Wallraf, the last rector of the old University of Cologne, "ore collector" and archbishop of the city, has been undergoing a complete renovation and restoration. The preservation of this important scientific scholarly library from the so-called "Sattelzeit" succeeds thanks to the support of our sponsors. They make it possible to save the works from the 15th-19th centuries.
