European Documentation Centre

The European Documentation Centre (EDC) (information in German) at the Cologne University and City Library is one of more than fifty European Documentation Centres in Germany. It is part of a worldwide network of EDCs that were founded in 1963 by the EU as part of its information and communication policy. It supplies members of the university, experts and interested members of the public with literature and information about the European Union and its policies.

The Documentation Centre serves as a European connection point intended to stimulate Community-related teaching and scholarship. It supplies members of the university, experts and interested members of the public with literature and information about the European Union and its policies.

In addition, the European Documentation Centre in Cologne (information in German) has the task of coordinating the other documentation centres in North Rhine-Westphalia.
